Confidentiality

To ensure the privacy and confidentiality of every client, ADAPT adheres to a strict set of federal and state privacy regulations and internal policies. These polices specifically protect the confidentiality of client identity and client clinical information.

While undergoing addiction recovery treatment at ADAPT, clients have certain rights and responsibilities granted by federal laws. ADAPT is fully compliant with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and 42 CFR (Code of Federal Regulations) Part 2 regulations. ADAPT also adheres to regulations from the Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).

Furthermore, ADAPT is committed to protecting your safety, confidentiality and rights within the law throughout your addiction recovery treatment program. A complete list of client rights is outlined in the Notice of Privacy Practices section in the ADAPTclient handbook. The handbook will be provided to each client after admission has taken place. The client handbook also outlines the responsibilities that are required of ADAPTclients during their stay.

Informed Consent

At ADAPT, any consent provided will be considered informed consent. Informed consent implies that you fully understand the purpose of the signed release and your rights. Please carefully read all release forms you are asked to sign. The ADAPT Admissions Associate can answer any questions you may have regarding the release of your clinical and medical information. We ask that all questions be conveyed to the ADAPT Admissions Associate before signing the release documents. The ADAPT staff will gladly provide you with a copy of all signed release forms for future reference. In general, ADAPT staff members cannot disclose information to any individual or agency without your written consent. You also have the right to revoke or restrict any releases during your stay at ADAPT. Release forms are valid for one year from the date of signing.

Personal Disclosures

ADAPT works within legal and ethical guidelines to protect your confidentiality during an addiction recovery treatment program. We will not willingly violate your confidentiality unless there is a concern that you may pose a threat to your life or to another person. In these cases, we are obligated by law to notify authorities in an effort to protect you and others. Anonymity is the cornerstone of 12-Step recovery program and is absolutely imperative for clients in treatment. We ask all clients and family members to make every effort to refrain from discussing other clients’ issues or concerns. Violation of a fellow client‘s or their family member‘s anonymity in treatment is a serious concern and is considered a federal offense.
